If you are traveling to the USA for business (B1) or pleasure (B2) you will need to apply for a USA visitor visa commonly known as B1/B2 visa. If you are employed as a crew member aboard say a cruise ship and you will join your ship in the USA then Visa Box would assist you with a C1/D visa which is basically a transit visa for crew members.

If you are wanting to study at a SEVP-approved school in the United States then Visa Box can assist you with certain USA Study visas such as the F1 visa. After the SEVP-approved school accepts your enrollment, you will be registered for the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and settle the SEVIS I-901 fee.  The SEVP-approved school will issue you a Form I-20.  After you have received this form and register in SEVIS, you may apply at the US Consulate here in South Africa for a student (F or M) visa.

The USA visitor visa application process is one of the more complex processes as compared to other visa applications, so it is advised to contact Visa Box to facilitate the process, so as to avoid errors and refusals.

Once your USA visitor visa application is complete and you have your visa submission appointment booked by Visa Box, you will have a short interview with a US immigration officer on your appointment date. Based on your answers the immigration officer will then decide whether to issue the visa to you or not. The USA consulates are able to issue visitor visas that have a validity of 10 years (multiple entries) but this is on a case-by-case basis.

The USA Consulates are based in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg and visa applicants must submit their applications in person, except if they are under 14 years old or over 80 years old, together with their supporting documentation, original valid passport and photos.

During peak travel season, one can wait up to one month to get an appointment at the USA consulate so it is always advised to begin the USA visitor visa application process well in advance of departure, so as to avoid any unnecessary delays. You do not require confirmed for your application.
